Facilities

Facilities Provided By the College

HOSTEL:

Separate hostel facilities for boys and girls are being provided. After admission , a student seeking accommodation in the hostel shall have to apply in the prescribed form to the respective Hostel Superiendents.

NSS:

The College has two units of National Service Scheme(NSS) to train boys and girls in the field of leadership and personality development . Regular as well as special camps are organized.

NCC:

The College has one unit of NCC for boys.

CANTEEN:

The College has a canteen for the convenience of the staff and the students of the college.

LIBRARY:

A well-equipped library with the sufficient number of books and journals for different subjects and fields is available in the college. Each and every student of the college are entitled to use the library as per rules. Library Automation is under process.

IGNOU STUDY CENTRE:

A study of the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) is opened in the college campus since 2001. The courses opened at this center are B.P.P , B.A/B.Sc, M.A in English and Political Science , Certificate in Primary Education(CPE) and Certificate in Information Technology(CIT) . The certificate course in Primary Education is meant for teachers already in Government service and selection of students are made through the Directorate of Education (S) , Government of Manipur . Counseling sessions are held on Sundays and Holidays. There is no age bar in admission to these courses.

IGNOU – CONVERGENCE SCHEME:

The Distance Education Council(DEC) introduced the Indira Gandhi Open University(IGNOU) convergence scheme throughout the country since January 2008. The Thoubal College , Thoubal has been approved as one of the Partner Institude (PI) by (DEC) since july,2008 session. The main objective of the scheme is that the students can earn extra/additional qualifications during the tunure of his/her of B.A/B.Sc course. Moreover, the courses are open to all students / employed persons. The advantage of the schema is that there is no age bar in admission to the courses. The courses opened in the college under the schema are

  1. Diploma in Early Childhood care in Education(DECE)
  2. Diploma in Nutrition and Health care and Education(DNHE)
  3. Diploma in Youth in Development Work(DCYP)
  4. Diploma in Tourism studies(DTS)
  5. Diploma in Human Rights(DHS)
  6. Certificates in Tourism Studies(CTS
  7. Diploma in HIV and Family Education(DAFE)
  8. Certificate in Environmental studies(CES)
  9. Certificate in HIV and Family Education(CAFÉ)

Over and above the courses mentioned above, many new courses may be opened according to demand with approval of the DEC.

The Diploma courses are of 1 yr duration while the certificatate courses are of 8 months duration . The courses fee are different for different courses. Under the scheme ,the students has to attend Face-to –Face counseling sessions during the off-periods of the normal B.A/B.Sc classes. The students can take admission to these courses throughout the year but they would be placed in the july or January sessions.More details can be had from the co-ordinator of the scheme.

CAREER ORIENTED PROGRAMME:

In accordance with the changing needs of the society the University Grant Commission(UGC) has introduced career oriented programmes at Add –on-Courses in University/Colleges of the country. The College has been running of

  1. Food Science and Quality Control
  2. Watershed Management and
  3. Counseling AIDS-Family .

The merit of the programme is that a student can earn additional qualifications during the tenure of his/her study B.A/B.Sc. Courses. The student can earn earn certificate /diploma /Advanced Diploma for the corresponding courses of 1year/2years/3years. That is, a student after successful completion of 1year of the COP-Course shall get a certificate . For diploma and Advanced diploma he/she has to complete 2years and 3 years respectively. More courses under the COP may be opened in subsequent academic sessions.

FACILITIES FOR SC/ST/OBC (NON CREAMY LAYER)/PHYSICALLY CHALLENGE STUDENTS:

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has introduced a new scheme of SC/ST/OBC (Non Creamy Layer)/Physically Challenge students during the X1 plan under which some facilities may be provided to the needy students in the form of stipend conveyance/allowance /room rent etc to some selected students belongings to the above categories may also be arrange.

CAREER AND COUNSELLING CELL:

The college is planning to open career and counseling cell under the sponsor ship of the University Grants Commission(UGC).
